    Reproduction HD wheels

Hopefully this isn't a repeat thread. I did a search but couldn't find them.

Anyways, I was surfing through the net trying to find a wheel pretty much like our stock wheels but lighter. That is when I ran across these.

    http://www.slickcar.com/productdetai...ProductID=4154

Has anyone seen these before or using these? I couldn't find out how much they weigh but have emailed them. Also does anyone know what our wheels weigh with out a tire mounted? I know they're like 80-90lbs with a tire but I'm just trying to compare these wheels bare.

    Thanks
    Ray

I read on here there was seviral prototypes made by Ford. Those wheels looked a little different from what I saw but I'm not 100% sure. These wheels are supposed to be identical to ours but lighter. I also emailed asking if we could use our HD center caps on these wheels. If these wheels are atleast 20lb lighter per wheel, I'm buying them Oh and if I can use the HD center caps. I love our wheels but damn their heavy

Oh man, is that on our stock wheels and tires I guess asking for a wheel to be 20lbs lighter maybe asking for to much.

    I saw that too but I feel it's a type-o unless they're talking about a 2nd gen HD? Down below, it's says :

Item 1124-2963C and Other Suggested Items
When you buy the Ford F150 Harley Davidson Edition Wheel, Chrome 20 x 9, +30MM Offset, we also recommend that you consider the other items listed below. You can add all desired items from below at one time by clicking the Suggested Items Quick Add Page button.

Also, the only other HD's I know of, is the F250/350 which use the 8 bolt wheels. Again, unless they're talking about the 2nd gen HD's.

our wheels & tires are 84 lbs a piece, i believe they are around 50-55 lbs without a tire mounted on them.

and all the aftermarket HD reps can use the factory center cap with some slight modding of the centercap.

i wouldnt suggest going with HD reps in stock 20" size for weight savings. Guys have posted up before the quality on the 20" reps isnt very good in comparison to stock, and it makes sense since they are still 20" cast chrome rims. so unless they are forged rims in the same style and size, they would be a better quality, stronger rim, lighter rim, but a lot more money. A cast replica 20" rim will almost definately have poorer quality than stock 20's. I think HD2NV8 had a 20" rep to replace one of his damaged stock rims, and he ended up buying another OEM 20" rim because he wasnt happy with its quality.

you will shed a little weight with going to 22" replicas. I think they are just a few pounds lighter each than stock. like 4-5 lbs at most.

if you are looking to shed 20 lbs a wheel, no way you are going to do it with a set of HD reps with anywhere near a decent amount of quality.

IMO if you really want to shed the rotating mass and get new rims, find some deep dish 5 spoke forged rims (centerlines, etc.) that you like and get a set of those. Then at least you will be able to see where your money went with the one of a kind look to your HD, as well as feel the difference of the lighter weight

http://www.slickcar.com/productdetai...roductID=3147. these are the 22 X 9.5 with 14mm offset. these are also 299.99 each.
the harley hauler 22 X 9.5 are 12 mm offset for 350 each at http://customwheelsmarket.com/oemstylrepfo.html. click on the ford truck replica wheels then go to the 22 X 9.5 harley wheels. this place has wheel and tire package with free mounting balancing valve stems and lugnuts and free shipping. i'm tempted to get the harley haulers.

IMO if you go with the slickcar wheels then you can get road force balancing at a place near you. to each his own.

I'm looking up some aftermarket wheels as we speak. If it's going to end up a ton of cash, I'll just stick with the stockers. I wonder what the 2nd gen HD wheels are weighing in at and if they'll bolt up

probably close to 100 lbs a piece for rim and tire lol cuz i doubt ford made the 06 rims forged 22's. probably still cast, and in a bigger size than they are now = more weight. and they wont bolt right up, i'm sure you could get adaptors to make them fit, which would be pretty cool, but the 06 rims are 6 lug

I know people use wheel adaptors but there just not for me. I just got off the phone with a local Foose dealer trying to find those Harley wheels he made. The dealer said he can't order them because they stopped making them Oh well, they're probaly out of my price range anyways.
